CASTLETON STATE COLLEGE | FACILITIES MASTER PLAN | 2006
Located on a 160-acre campus twelve miles west of Rutland, Vermont, Castleton State College had reached the capacity of its on-campus housing. In Fall 2002, Castleton State College enrolled 1,400 full-time undergraduate students of which half lived in campus housing. The College planned to expand on-campus housing in conjunction with planned enrollment growth, and sought to quantify demand and desirable housing characteristics.
Rickes Associates (RA) interviewed key administrators, met with student focus groups, and conducted on-line surveys of on-campus and commuter students. Additional information was collected including local demographic data, current housing trends, existing campus housing conditions, and institutional enrollment projections. From the analysis of these data and trends, RA identified an immediate need for 250 beds and recommended a desired mix of units. (2003)
