Working with the Institutional Planning Committee, RA guided the members of the
College community through an extensive process of focus groups, town hall
meetings, and a college-wide survey to develop a new Mission, Vision, and Values
Statement. Facilitation included an all-day planning retreat and support was
provided not only through analysis of information collected in campus-wide
meetings but also with draft and design documents resulting in the final,
approved Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Directions.
Information from the College community's participation formed the basis for
development of broad strategic directions. In response to the specific needs of
the College, research teams were formed to develop recommendations for each
strategic direction. RA provided guidelines and templates for these research
teams, and subsequently organized the recommendations into a structured
implementation plan.
Based on the College's decision to make the planning process highly
participatory, the timeline spanned two academic years and resulted in a number
of documents that will provide planning guidance for many years. The
implementation plan will offer support for multi-year budget planning, and the
integration of the Campus Master Plan and the Information Technology Strategic
Plan into College's Strategic Plan provides a forum to coordinate the College's
major planning initiatives.
