Muskingum is a private, liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. Located east of Columbus, Ohio on a 215-acre campus, it enrolls over 2,000 students. Education, Business, and Speech Communication are the largest programs. In an effort to provide additional student space, a 16,000 asf Collegiate Center was proposed
As part of the programming process, Rickes Associates (RA) collected pertinent information, including student demographics and current space occupancy patterns; conducted interviews and focus groups with key administrators, faculty and students; and reviewed benchmark data from other campus centers. RA then prepared a space program, quantifying needs by space type and commenting on qualitative requirements of adjacencies and affinities. The three-story facility, which is intended to "bridge" two sections of the campus separated by a hollow, will contain a physical exercise area, study and socialization areas, as well as food service.
