ROGER WILLIAMS UNIVERSITY | CLASSROOM UTILIZATION ASSESSMENT | 2005
As part of the utilization analysis, Rickes Associates (RA) assessed current and projected use patterns and recommended adjustments to the overall mix of classroom space, including both the number and capacity of classrooms. To this end, RA reviewed the scheduling of class periods during the day and over the week, break time between classes, room sizes and counts, seat occupancy rates, and available technology. A survey of peer institutions was also conducted and helped inform the recommendations.
Recommendations focused on the changes needed to offer students and faculty a well-balanced array of right-sized classrooms. This included the numbers and capacities of required classrooms, as well as recommended adjustments to scheduling blocks so as to enhance student learning, quality teaching, and collegiate interaction.
