The New York State College of Ceramics (NYSCC) is a statutory college of the State University of New York (SUNY), offering undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees. It is embedded in and affiliated with Alfred University, a small, private, comprehensive university in the village of Alfred, New York. 

Rickes Associates was engaged to identify current and projected space needs. A review of existing documents, analysis of campus data, and a detailed space utilization analysis were combined with information gathered at meetings with NYSCC faculty and administrators to identify current and future factors affecting space needs.

Existing and projected space requirements and recommendations through 2023 were determined based on the qualitative and quantitative information obtained, higher education planning guidelines, and a detailed utilization analysis of classroom and specialized instructional spaces. Enrollment projections and new program initiatives were also considered. The resulting program presented space planning projections for the College by space type.
